Located about 20-30 minutes’ drive west of Auckland in the beautiful rural setting of Taupaki, Radius Taupaki Gables provides rest home and private hospital with palliative and respite care.
A notable feature of “The Gables” is our central courtyard with a centrepiece gazebo, BBQ area, raised gardens and covered balconies for friends and family to gather. Our landscaped grounds offer plenty of space to relax and to do a bit of gardening. Our residents have won prizes for the garden blooms they have entered for the Kumeu Garden Show. They have even taken out the Champion prize for their begonias!
Our residents also help care for our flock of chickens. They have hand-reared the chickens from eggs, and take great pride in seeing them growing and thriving—not to mention that the eggs laid are used in our kitchen. There is also a workman’s bench for residents to practise their woodworking and building skills. Our activities coordinator schedules new activities and outings each week, ensuring that our residents feel stimulated and fulfilled in residential care.
We want you and your loved ones to feel at home at Radius Taupaki Gables. We are animal-friendly, and have regular visits from local animal rescue groups. We believe in fostering a friendly family atmosphere between our caring staff, residents and their families. It is important to us that you feel cared for, loved and valued when you make The Gables your home.

There are many different types of care designed to meet individual needs. At Radius Care we cover a range of accommodation and care options, from respite, to rest home, hospital level and palliative care. These broad offerings allow for ‘ageing in place’, so if any of our residents’ needs change they are often able to stay with us.

I began my nursing in Northland, graduating in 1987 and working in aged care for the majority of my career. I have worked for Radius Care at Radius Taupaki Gables for 19 years and am passionate about our pet-friendly, family-oriented care home and our community as a proud West Aucklander.
