When someone moves in, we want the first conversation to be about them. What they love, what their days usually look like, and what their story is.
The team is here around the clock, registered nurses and caregivers who build on that from day one.
Meals are cooked fresh and family and friends are welcome any time.
There’s a full week of activity: sing-alongs, cooking, a men’s group, outings, happy hour, and a visiting pianist. Regular visiting services include a physiotherapist, podiatrist and hairdresser. Residents can bring their own furniture, and there’s a whānau room for when family need space too.
The home sits four kilometres from Wellington’s city centre, a short walk from the shops and cafes, in over three-quarters of a hectare of established gardens.

Care at Karori
There are many different types of care designed to meet individual needs. At Radius Care we cover the full range of accommodation and care options, from respite, to rest home and hospital level care to dementia, and palliative care. These broad offerings allow for ‘ageing in place’, so if any of our residents’ needs change they are able to stay with us.

Sara Harwood
My decision to move into aged care was shaped by my own family experience during COVID. While my parents were living in a retirement village,… my mother developed late-stage dementia. It was a difficult time for our family and gave me a real appreciation for the importance of quality care, and how we as a society need to do better when caring for our elders.
That experience led me to complete a certification in dementia care and ultimately inspired my move into aged care where I wanted to make a positive difference.
What I enjoy most about my role is getting to know our residents and their families. You'll more often find me chatting to residents, rather than sitting in my office. Being present, listening and building relationships is an important part of how I work.
I believe great aged care starts with people. When residents feel valued, families feel supported and staff enjoy coming to work, it creates a community where everyone can thrive.
Born in Wales and raised in Wellington, I've spent most of my life in the capital and am proud to call it home. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my two grown-up children.
